Posts: 65 Location: Lake St.Clair | Hey guys Im new to the forums but Ive been a "Lurker" for awhile now. Great group of guys on the site! I got into a debate last night with a buddy of mine about the differences between DCG's and SpankyBaits.I myself love the Spankybaits he obviously is a DCG guy. The main disagreement was the flashabou the spanky baits have. The DGS seem to have a thinner material than the Spanky's. Does this sound right? He claims it the exact same flashabou on both lures but I think Spankys a tougher better material. Am I wrong? Sounds dumb but I just want to prove him wrong.lol I WILL be bringing a spankybait over to his house just to prove it! Just wanted to make sure I'am right before I loose a bet! Thanks, Rick

Posts: 43 | I think the spankys also have the thicker blades, .040 to .025 on DCG's. some guys like them, some say no difference. I think the thicker ones run a little deeper and lay back against the shaft of the bait more, less vibration some say? Might notice them pulling a little easier.

Posts: 2024 | I'm fairly certain it's the same material. Hedron Inc. makes a special commercial cut (you can get similar Magnum Flashabou, but not sure if it's the exact same width or not) only available if you present them with a FET form. I know Spanky Baits uses the commercial Hedron material (just talked with Dan at the Chicago Show about it), but not positive what the Mayhem uses on their baits. Posts: 968 Location: N.FIB | the spanky baits has a 3.7 oz and a 3.2 oz double ten,any difference since I was thinking of ordering some and not sure what weight to get.

Posts: 2024 | 3.2 was made to slow roll over weeds and simply has a smaller weight in the rear. You could see if Dan could tie you up something with less (or more) weight if you wanted. Edited by esox50 2/10/2009 7:17 PM

You can order Spanky Baits with 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, 1 oz weights. If you want heavier ones, when you order them, just tell Dan that you want 3/4 oz weight on them. Hulbert
