Location: Northwest Wisconsin | Hi, I want to prime my ceder bodies before painting. I am using Kiln primer in the white, my question is how many coats of primer should I put on? And should I sand the primer before I apply the color coat of paint? This is all new to me, thank you for your suggestions. |

| If these are musky baits, you might consider putting on a thin coat of epoxy before priming. That way when you prime and paint them, the grain doesn't show through. I really prefer a bait without the distraction of the grain showing through and the extra thin coat of epoxy over the wood makes them a bit more tooth proof.. One coat of primer should be plenty as long as you get a nice dense white so that your colors light up properly when applied over the primer.
I would try lightly sanding the primer also. |
