Location: Lake Geneva, WI | I'm looking at a crestliner 2006 fishhawk 1750 with a 06 90hp optimax. It is rated to 125hp max. I not very boat savy, but is the motor too small or underpowered for the boat? Or should it be just fine?

Location: Cohasset, MN | For comparison: I have a 2000 1750 with a 115hp Johnson. Using the OEM 17 pitch aluminum prop I have great hole shot and WOT is 40mph (gps) right at 5500rpm. |

| You will have plenty of HP on that rig. I own a 2004 Fishhawk 1750 90HP Suzuki 19" pitch OEM aluminum prop - 39.5 mph gps, can hit 40 with just the right chop. |

| While it is always a good idea to max out hp on boatsor close to it, a 90 will get you up and down the lake just fine. As long as the price is right go for it. Fishhawks take hardly any power to get them out of the hole. I have the exact same set up as jtroop, but with a stainless prop and can get 47 mph out of mine under the right conditions. |

Location: Hopefully on the water | the 1750 fishhawk is a great boat. I have it with a 125 merc. on it and can get just under 50mph with it. The brother inlaw has the same thing with a 90 four stroke Johnson and it performs at no problems at all. He will run longer on 1 tank of gas then I will anyday with his motor. I wouldn't hesitate if the price is right. Plus Crestliner's customer service is very good. |

| I also have the 90hp four-stroke Suzuki and have no problems. Quick on plane although I need to adjust my prop to get a bit more on the top end. Might get around to that this year and I expect to get close to 40 mph as well.
The low sides and mammoth front deck make it an ideal muskie boat! Good luck.

Location: Minnesota | I agree with everyone else too - if the price is right - go for it. I have a 90 hp. Johnson on my 2003 1750 fish hawk. I top out at about 38-39 mph with all of the gear and two people in the boat. When I am at full speed going across the lake I sometimes wonder what it would be like to have a little bit more speed but when I do the math, more speed isn't necessary for me. The longest distance I usually drive at full speed would be about 10 miles. At my average of 35 miles per hour that would take me 17 minutes. Averaging 45 miles per hour it would take me 13.5 minutes. All things being equal the 3.5 minutes wouldn't be worth a lot of money to me. Good luck - I just bought mine last fall and don't have any complaints yet. |

It's a great boat. Sometimes wish i still had it. ( It was paid for ) |

Location: Rhinelander | I have a '98 1750 with a 115 Johnson Faststrike....boat moves fine. Average 40-44 gps mph depending on fuel load and water conditions. A buddy of mine has a 2003 or 2004 w/ a 90 evinrude, I believe e-tec...... we are dead nuts out of the hole...he may even have me by half a boat length. On plane it takes me half a mile before I slowly pull away.......and it's not by much.
A 90 is plenty good on a 1750. |
