I just picked up twp Okuma 10' CPM-10M mooching rods rated to 3oz. for trolling 10" believers, 8" Jakes and such. Does anybody have experience with these rods and can they be used for sucker fishing? Thanks

I use those rods for trolling both 'skis and salmon, and love them. However I don't think that you'd get a very good hookset with those in a sucker application.

I tried to use 2 10 foot trolling rods as sucker rods, and they just don't work.
Had the same fish hit a sucker 3 times during the second KLY tournament, we set the hook so hard we each rocked the boat all 3 times, the fish never got any steel. Now I use 7 foot XXH glass rods, you can really drive some steel with those babys!!!

I second that emotion, but I am pretty sure that Mark and the mad scientists at Okuma are working as we speak to develop a glass-graphite blended rod for late fall big baits that can be used for suckers.

I've use the 8ft Canadian trolling rod for suckers all last fall, probably one of the best rods i've used for that application. It also is a nice down rod in my set, with 9'6" rods used for boards.
