| I was just wondering if your using a bait like a suick, hellhound, manta, etc and you have a fish follow do you still figure eight even thought these type of baits won't really do anything when figure "8"ing? do you guys still think even thought there is mcuh action the fish still might try to go after it in the "8"?? |

Location: N.FIB | the only way to find out is to keep the lure moving,if the bait stops,the fish will most likely swim away and not be interested in it anymore. |

Location: Oshkosh | I have found in this situation is to go into the figure 8, but work the bait in zig zag back and forth pattern. well in the 8. Not to say this will work all the time cause they are muskies, nothing works all the time, but give it a try.

Location: Cedarburg, Wisconsin | Yes figure 8ing those lures and many other jerk baits is effective. I've seen fish hit them just making a smooth 8 and also by adding action with jerks through the 8. Just because the action changed from what the fish followed originally has little effect on whether or not they will hit the lure in the 8. Think about it for a minute. If the action was so good to start with then why didn't they hit way out there instead of following? I've caught many times more skies figure 8ing jerks than bucktails simply because I fished them in fall on water where figure 8ing was very effective due to the darker water (LOTW and flowages). Just make the transition from the retrieve into the 8 seamless and good things can happen. |

| Thanks, I have watched on a tv show once when the guy had a follow with a jerkbait and he started to figure 8 and I noticed that he was twitching the rod while "8"ing... and he ended up catching the fish. I was justcurious to see what you guys thought about it... I would think if you got a follow withany bait you should figure eight, there would be no reason not to figure 8.

| Keep it moving, that is the best advice. As long as it is moving, it represents food. One thing that I like to do is to keep the lure up near the surface and I'll make it splash and gurgle and slosh, whatever it takes as long as you don't make it splash too loud. I like to jerk my rod back and worth to make it look like the lure is struggling, and then I'll take it on a slightly downward angle like the fish is fleeing.
Catching fish on a glider or a jerkbait doesn't happen often, but if a fish tries to eat and misses, they will come back and try to eat it again.

| I caught a fish last year twitcing my hellhound alongside the boat after retrieve. I never saw a follow but turned 90 degrees at boatside and was working it towards the front of the boat when the water exploded, scaring the #*#* out of me. After that I always work glide baits back and forth a few times at boatside. That's just my 2 cents. |

Location: Wauwatosa, Wisconsin | I usually mix it up, i will zig zag the lure back and forth and then go in big ovals and even plop the bait on the surface...it seemed to work a couple of times. |
