I did a search on this site and did not find any matches. Does any know what the muskie mortality rate is for ice fishing? In 2008 the MN DNR changed their regulations so muskie fishing stopped Dec 1 however I was curious if anyone knew this information.

I have a friend in the past that ice fished for muskies and I always pushed back on him that it was not in the best interest of the fish or fishery that he do that. Could really use some solid factual information - I do understand ice fishing mortality rates may be difficult to calcuate being you never see the fish go past down the hole.

Any input is appreciated.

Don
