my speedo/fuel gauge flashes . is it because the battery is low on juice? it will also flash for a bit then go blank and when I turn the key off it will power up and seems to work this seems very stange to me . are these yamaha gauges known to go bad?

Is it the entire guage that flashes? On mine the fuel guage portion of the instrument flashed, and it turned out to be a loose wire. This I found out after replacing both sending units in the tanks. Make sure all connections are tight.
