Location: New Jersey | I have been analyzing my season last year, and it seems that 90% of my muskys caught on bucktails and spinnerbaits are on the "8." I will admit i have a pretty good figure 8 and i do it after every cast. But, i have never had this much sucess on the eight. I wonder if i am reeling too slow on the retrieve or they may strike away from the boat??
Any thoughts..........

Location: WI | Who knows, last year I caught 5 on bucktails and they were all during the retrieve. This year I caught 3 and lost one on the 8 or L, and 2 during the retrieve.

Location: Michigan | I have found that when doing just a normal, straight, medium speed retrieve most fish are caught at boatside (change of direction that triggers them). For me, fish are more likely to hit away from the boat when the bait is burned or fished erractically. |

| I have found that when bucktail fishing I catch almost all fish either right away when I start the retrieve or on the 8. Very seldom do I get a hit say mid cast. Kinda strange but that's the way it has been for me. |

Location: Southern W.Va. | While fishing Vermilion this year at the MuskieFirst outing in July, ALL my fish , musky&northerns that came on bucktails seemed to hit after killing or at least slowing it down to get just a little deeper. Almost all fish were caught in weedbeds and came off the edges of little pockets of open water. Most fish hit 40 to 60 feet from the boat . Only 1 musky but a bunch of pike. Mikie moved several fish in the same areas using Musky Treats, just couldn't get them to commit. I think change of speed was the triggering factor on this trip. Anyhow , I was pleased.
