Frozen stiff. River is very very slow. I just got back from there.

The DNR is recognizing a fish kill in the lake now, not just the spillway. They may be right, but I think high water could have had more to do with the slow fishing in the lake this year, but there is obviously something wrong with the river, which is understandable with the amount of fish in such a small area. Not to mention the extreme fishing pressure and mishandling of the fish, which is why I don't fish there.

Is there still extreme fishing pressure at the spillway, even since the dieoff?

Or maybe they just moved downstream into other deeper pools and into Lake Carlyle... No need for the fish to stay at the dam with the high water levels you guys had down there...

I doubt with all the food coming through the spillway fish are going to travel downstream away from the food supply........and the only ones I believe made it to Carlysle were belly up already

They will leave the dam sooner or later. Its in their nature. There is plenty of food downstream... so why would they stay bunched up in such a small area full of lures? Just an idea... I know the DNR says there may have been a fish kill, but think about how many fish left that area and are thriving downstream. I know its hard for you to fish anywhere but the spillway, but you should really give it a try

My first musky was 33 inch near the first bridge from below the Sheybville dam in 1983!
Need boat and if you can find several nice pool downstream and I am sure muskies is there. Little fishing pressure also Illinois State Record musky from below the dam!
Some monster walleye at night in March!

I have ventured many times this year past even the bluffs in search of muskies down there in the deep pools. If they are there, they have fooled anglers and DNR. Plus when I was able to count 15-20 floaters per trip....I'd say try elsewhere to even the best of friends......not just to shy away anglers.
