Not sure exactly how many baits I will be taking with me next year on my move to the great white North (maybe 50-75 allowing for some purchases along the way...), but will need a portable storage system. Not interested in making my own or lugging up a bunch of 5 gallon buckets, but more interested in the Dunwright, Lakewood, or even the new EnCase if people have had experience with it.

Pros and cons would be cool. What I like about the Lakewoods is they can double as another seat, but that isn't enough to put it over the other products. Thanks everybody.

Heres my little input.I have used buckets, yes there a pain.Dunwrights are the best boxes made(durable),but heavy and dont hold enough baits for there size.Have had Lakewood Monster (to freakin big),spinnerbait box and is only good for a few type of baits, stuck planos under the deck, nice to store baits, pain to find that one bait your looking for and your looking for portable anyway. So im picking up the Lakewood Medium this winter.Holds appx. 60-80 baits of all different sizes, two planos on each end and your pliers, hook outs, etc on one side and the box isnt huge.Been looking into this for the last few weeks.I can get all my casting baits and terminal tackle in one box without carring a Volkswagon around.Hope this works, cause Im going to try it.

What i use is a large duffel bag, like a hockey bag stuffed with hockey bags.

I'm leaning a bit... but haven't fallen yet. For those that have the Dunwright, how many baits can it hold?

Probably depends what model your looking at and what size baits your using.

I have used a Lakewood Monster for about 12 years now. I didn't own a boat and it was my "everything box" bulldawgs in the planos on the side, leaders in the inside of the top lid, tools on the outside, extra gear in the pouch on the end, and extra "stuff" in the other plano on the side. My raingear even fit in that thing. I used to haul that box and 2-3 rods with anytime I went with someone else fishing. Sometimes it doubled as a casting deck, sometimes it was just a seat, sometimes it was nothing but a big tackle box. I don't see that a medium box is that much smaller and will make that big of a difference in a car, boat, closet, or garage. You are talking about a few inches of difference. Just throw the shoulder strap on your shoulder and lug it.

I like something that can hold just about anything. The Lakewoods seem more like a suitcase-tacklebox than strictly a tacklebox like the Dunwrights or Flambeaus. I will probably take a closer look at the shows and go through my bait collection in the meantime. Thanks guys.

I have the Ultimate Tackle Box from Lakewood and love it. It uses all plastic boxes and no hanging compartments. I modified the plastic boxes a little by drilling holes in them to allow some air flow. I also added hangers in some (paper clips) to hang bucktails from to keep them from balling up in the bottom of the box. There is also a zippered side pocket that fits a smaller plano, but I have it stuffed full of plastics, leaders, first aid kit, etc. The pockets around the box hold release tools, maps, etc. I dont have a great boat so I spend a lot of time boat hopping with buddies and this box is great for that. It has a strap that I can throw over my shoulder and I can carry my rods in my hands. I also used it as a casting platform a lot this summer and never had any problems.

Sean, the Lakewood Monster is nice for traveling since it does have the pocket for tools, leaders, maps, and the 3700 pocket on the back. I understand it is over sized for a lot of guys, but they do make smaller ones. I use the front for my tools when I go in someone else's boat and It holds enough to be dangerous. 2 pairs of 14" pliers, mouth spreader, hook cutters, file, torch lighter, and side cutters to cut line all fit in the front pockets with ease. I use one of the side boxes (3600 size) for extra hooks/rings/trailers and misc. odds and ends. The other side holds bags of swim shads, a spare reel, first aid kit, and i'm sure some things I have forgotten about. I use the back box for some 9" swimbaits (you know what i'm talking about) and a few bucktails (10's and 12's). Mine also has pockets on the outside of the 3600 size pouches that I put my fish handling and leather gloves in. The shoulder strap is not durable enough to cart around the weight of the loaded box, since I had to repair the metal rings the first time I tried. The clips do work nicely with my waterproof digital camera case since it has a strap that can be unsnapped. I also use a caribeaner and clip my keys on the other side since keys are always being misplaced when people go with me. It is very nice to travel with since you can throw some tools in the front and be ready to jump ship into another person's boat. It is one of those boxes that if I have 10 mins notice I can be ready to go and not forget anything.

I have the Lakewood Monster and when the thing is loaded it weighs a ton. Someone needs to invent a way to put some wheels on the bottom of the thing with a pull handle thingy so it's easier to lug around. While they're at it how about a winch to pull the thing up onto the boat and trailer!!?? I've seen the model that Deceiver speaks of, and it looks freakin' sweet!

Can you elaborate a bit more on the specs of the new model (i.e. dimensions, # baits able to hold, weight, etc.)?

Model 141418D Approx. 14Lx14Wx18H. Top section standard model has 16 - 3 3/4" x 3 3/8" interlocking dividers. Can handle up to 3 hanging lures in each depending on size of lure. Outside rim of box also facilitates hanging of lures due the over-sized top. Bottom section under false floor is 4" tall with a 3" partitioned drawer that has a latch to access from the front.

Model 241214 Approx. 24Lx12Wx14H. Standard model interlocking divider set up has 36 divider sections. 28 are 2 3/4" x 2 1/2" - (fits a pounder Bull Dawg) 8 are approx. 3"x 2 3/4". No drawer in this model. Can handle up to 3 hanging lures in each depending on size of lure. Outside rim of box also facilitates hanging of lures due the over-sized top.

These boxes are not light. They are built to last from transparent 1/4" thick polycarbonate (Lexan). The material helicopter windshields are made from. You can take a hammer to this stuff and not break it.

For night fishing, put an LED light accessory in the box and easily find what you are looking for even at night.

I will try to attach photos.

I have used the monster from lake wood and have been pleased with all the storage. You can put musky magazines in side the clear top. You can also store all your tools in the all the pockets. This is the best box. I can store about 80-100 baits.

Yes, that does help! I really like the locking capabilities and the tray underneath to hold tools and maps is a great feature (actually, in my case it's necessary). Will these be at the Chicago Show? I'd also be curious to know pricing (can PM me if you choose).

Unfortunately, I won't be at the Chicago Show. Will be at the Milwaukee and Minnesota shows. Feedback from field testers has been that most really like the storage drawer and use it all the time, a few others could do without.
Will PM. Which model(s)?
Photo of Model 20614 attached. This is the model referenced in Steve Worrall's post.
---practically the Model 241214 cut in half....
