As the 2009 show season is quicky becoming a reality, I wanted to quickly share with you a product that myself and Musky Armor teamed up to make. The Night Net Light easily attaches to any net. It provides light directly where you need it while night fishing. No more fumbling for your head lamp, just grab the net, click on the bright LED flashlight and your good to go.
I had the first prototype in 2007 and used this product in 2008 and I couldn't imagine night fishing without it. These net light will be available through me, Musky Armor and a few retailers once the 2009 show season get here. If you are not able to attent a show and want more info, feel free to contact me.

Mike,

Extremely innovative and VERY practical.
Best of luck with this new product.

You should sell a load of these ...

Is this the new Hulcano Halogen? Looks like a flashlight and a elastic strap to me.

Here are a few other photos of the Net Light attachment.

It is more than just a flashlight and an elactic strap.

The attachment is made out of a very tough rubber, with 2 different U shaped ends. The bigger end is for the net handle and the smaller U is for the flashlight. They are both held very secure by heavy duty velco. Easy on, easy off. The rubber attachment makes the light stay in place, no slipping or rolling around of the flashlight. Once you put it on, it says put.

I still wear my "cat eyes" at night but this Net Light provides light directly where you need it most. My "cat eyes" are pretty much used for chaging lures and used when unhooking the fish.

It is more than just a flashlight and an elactic strap.

i'll admit, my first reaction was "gas station flashlight with a strap. gee whiz."

thinking about it a bit more though, i think i like this enough to buy one depending on how much it costs.

a) there's no such thing as "too much" light when netting a fish. to say so is silly. i've lost fish while fumbling to turn my headlamp on, so having it on the net for my partner to use is a nice convenience.

b) although it's a simple idea, i'd be buying it for the convenience of not having to make one myself. the design looks effective and you could easily replace the flashlight if it was too cheap or broke at some point.
i mean, i can plant wheat in my backyard too, but i go to the store and buy bread because someone else has done that work for me...

so, Mike, the critical question: how much will it cost???

I have been using a very similar product tha was made for catfishing at night. Clips onto your net as well. This one looks like it is a little better made though. with the catfish one, I had to make an extension arm so that the light would shine down into the net more. I will be buying the new version for sure. Having that light helps while you are working on fish!

Looks like a nice idea...tough crowd on here...you put two blades in front of some fur and they go crazy for it...make a light for a net and it is too simple...fickle, fickle crowd...

I had the pleasure of sharing the boat with Mike this past summer and once it was dark he showed us the difference of having a light on the handle versus the head lamp. Made a huge difference. Head lamps are still important but I could see how it was difficult to keep a light on the fish and on your net. You'll wish you had one when that 50"er gets hung up on the outside of the net!

Simple but great idea.

what is a headlamp?
but then headlamps are stupid too, i just use duct tape, a light bulb, a 9v battery, a couple wires and wrap it all around my head! pulling the elastic wasteband out of a old pair of underwear works well too!

if you night fish you will appreciate these new net lights! they work great!
