| You don't have to have your boat right over the fish but you should set the hook as hard as you can against the way the fish is moving. Can't set hooks to hard!!! |

Location: Downers Grove, IL | Are you using a single treble or double treble rig? I switched to two smaller trebles (Mustad 3551 2/0) and have gone 6 for 6 since. 5 of the 6 came on the front hook near the head of the sucker. Only 1 was hooked with the rear hook. I try to get the boat moving away from the fish and slam the hooks home once, reel down, then twice. Make sure you only grab a small chunk of flesh on the sucker so the treble can pop free on hookset. Also, I find much better success with suckers in the 10-14 inch range rather then huge mamas.

| as above....i use a 2 treble quick strike..suckers in the 11-14" range have been best this year...get the fish moving straight away from you, i don't like to be right over the fish...more of a slight angle to the fish, and give it a good hookset... at times they will grab the suckers by the tail ... and that is why you might be missing those fish |
