Posts: 226 Location: W. PA. | Hard to believe that's only a 24" girth, I thought 25-26" when I first saw the pic. Congrats man, that's a piggie for sure, easily 40+lbs.

Posts: 100 Location: Bemidji/Cass Lake | Nice fish sir, congrats. I've never seen any kind of scar like that. Is that really from a lamprey?? If so I had no idea that they could do that kind of skin damage. Later Sackett

Posts: 5874 | Here is Jason's fish from yesterday. We missed 3 fish today, as three came unpinned. One was another brute, but not to be. No lamprey on my piggie, and I don't really know what caused that scarring. It's the first thing I saw when the fish surfaced. Then I noticed how far the bait was in front of the tail. Whew, what a rush! Thanks Jason for a great net job! As for the girth, you'll have to take that up with Jason, as he measured it. Thanks to all for the congrats. And Netman, you missed your shot calling it MY fish 2 yeaqrs ago! Were you and Sanks out too late the night I got my first 50? If so, then you certainly can have credit for this one. But I think that Pewaukee fish was prettier. Edited by Shep 11/8/2008 8:37 PM Attachments ---------------- 110708c.jpg (150KB - 160 downloads)

Posts: 13688 Location: minocqua, wi. | so shep, from what i've gleaned of what you missed ... 1. you're on the take from muskyfirst and drive a free tuffy, 2. you don't have the right measuring equipment and 3. your fish didn't really stand up to the girth you reported ... congrats on the nice fatty ... like the presidential election, all fish and technique have to be confirmed from indiana before they stand the true test ...

Posts: 5874 | Sled, funny you mention the free Tuffy. It was free. My wife gave it to me. As I said above, I didn't girth the fish, Jason did. And my equipment measures just fine. Ask my wife why she gave me that Tuffy! Still waitng for the Outdoorfirst deposit. Is it hung up in Indiana?

Posts: 5874 | Just to confirm what most of you probably figured. This fish was released, and immediately swam away strong. I'll be watching to see if this fish is ever caught again, and how much it might have grown. Won't be hard to ID from that scar on it's side! Not sure about a replica. I didn't get one made of my 1st 50+. If I did decide to have one made of this fish, I wonder if I should have the scar side showing? Kinda unique I would think. Thanks again guys. Yes, I am glad I didn't put the boat up early this year. Pointer, yes I am old, but I still got it! And I don't hate Al Harris. But I do think Tramon is now a better player. I think this will probably be his last year as the starter. And Kevin, I put the clubs up before the boat again this year. Good thing, huh? A hole in one might be harder than a 50+, but then again, I spent alot more time fishing than golfing. Edited by Shep 11/10/2008 1:29 PM

Posts: 240 | Great fish Shep. This sure does seem like the year of the big Muskie for many out there. It sure shows how well catch and release is working and how healthy the resource is becoming. Nice job!
