Location: East TN | Ok guys, I got a question. I went out yesterday and tried again to get my first toothy critter. With no luck, didn't even see the first fish. Anyways, We threw jerkbaits(6-8" Jakes....also threw a hellhound a few times), Bucktails(several different ones), and a couple different color(and size) bulldawgs with no luck. Water temps were upper 50's, and a bluebird sky. Keep in mind this is a southern lake which doesn't have any weedbeds....we typically target laid-down trees along the banks for the most part. Now, My question.....Other than just call it a day, Based on the info i'm able to tell you, What would you guys have suggested we tried after having no luck with what we did throw?
I realize some days they just won't bite, but i'm sure there are still a few options out there that we could've tried? Just looking for suggestions of what you guys would've opted for? Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! |

Location: Iowa | I've got fish in very similar conditions that were suspended. Both on glide baits and twitch/crank baits. DDD being my favorite for suspended fish. Don't ever rule out top water, even if conditions don't seem right. I've heard yellow is a good topwater under bluebird skies. And persistence. Keep at it and eventually it will pay off. When you do get that first one, analyze everything, and repeat it under similar conditions. It will get a little easier eventually. |

Location: Sioux Lookout On Canada | After you fish the timber, try parking the boat over or around the timber and cast out to the open water. Suspended fish off of this structure can be drawn to the cover and to your bait. |
