Posts: 1270 | NExt question is why do people even post pictures at all? Do they have some need for fame or attention? Unless the fish is really something outstanding or the picture is great I don't see why there is a need or desire to post pictures of it. If it's a real piggy then I like seeing pictures or if it's a picture of a fish with a great sunset in the back ground or something like that I like seeing it but do we really need to see a picture of every 40" fish that gets caught in the state? In CPR the "P" is optional! I don't see the need to put undue stress on the fish to get a picture of another 36" or 40" fish. If it's your first or something then fine but what can you possibly do with 100's of pictures of fish?

Location: Twin Cities | what can you possibly do with 100's of pictures of fish? Remember an outing with a friend who doesn't fish much with you, even if it's a 40. Remember a great day with beautiful weather, even if it's a 40. Remember that fish that finally hit after an 9 hour day with NOTHING seen, even if it is a 40, you feel like you've earned it. Grab a snap shot of that day your dog was with you and tried to eat the fish while it was in the net, even if it's a 40. IDK, i'm not one to take a pic of every fish caught, but i know plenty of reasons too. Granted i'm an advocate of the 10 second shot and the fish are handled very well/carefully. I'm pretty sure that in 20 years, i'll be glad to have pictures of my youthful fishing adventures. Edited by JRedig 10/21/2008 10:28 AM

Posts: 724 Location: Southern W.Va. | Being one who only catches a few each year, I'll take a picture of everyone that I can. Sorry if this offends anyone but they are few and far between for me. Mauser

Posts: 8829 | Reelman Posting pictures? EGO. "Hey look at me"... I guess I'm guilty, because I like to keep pictures of my fish. Keep them all in a photo album that now spans more years than I care to admit. Helps me remember the day. The more years that go by, the more I enjoy looking back at those old pictures. As for posting them, though? Well, if its unusual, or a tiger, really chunky or really big, I wanna see it. I'll still take pictures of anything over 40", but I don't need to post them. Well, unless I lost my head ![]()

Posts: 550 Location: So. Illinois | - Because I have not caught that many and it is still a thrill to boat one, regardless of size. - Because different muskies have different markings and I enjoy cateloging the photos of the fish I catch - the smaller ones can be beautiful. The lake I fish has clear, barred, and spotted muskies and I enjoy the variation of the fish stocked in the lake. - Because I have friends and family on this and other boards who enjoy hearing about my success and ask for me to share photos. - Because I only fish a few times a year and any muskie in the boat is a thrill - Because I am still a novice and I record what works, what doesn't and include a picture for my records - Becuase I take friends and family members with me who have never caught a muskie and I make sure to document their first and subsequent fish. - Because a muskie to me is still a fish of a thousand casts and to boat one is still a rare event. - Because I have learned from the people on this board how to properly handle fish and reduce stress to the minimum. I have a pen sized net, release tools, safety equipment and camera at the ready to reduce out of water time to the minimum. I understand the effects of the environment and I know when to not fish for muskies. I would not take a photo of a fish if I didn't think I could handle it properly. - I have caught a few tagged fish, I record the tag # and take a photo to share with my local DNR. - Because, because, because...... I have not become synical and I enjoy seeing other peoples' success and because it is through their stories and experiences that I learn to become a better fisherman. - Keep the posts and photos coming -- I have a lot to learn......... Posts: 1270 | If you guys want to take pictures that is fine with me. What I was getting at is that it isn't neccessary to post everyone you catch on the internet. I take pictures of most of the skis I catch also and personally think a nice 8x10" on the wall looks better than a reproduction on the wall as you can look at the picture and see the background, the boat you were in, etc. and it brings back more memories than just a mounted fish. I didn't mean to get "high and mightly" on you guys - I was just thinking out loud!

To celebrate the moment and allow those who were not there at the time that fish hit the net to share the experience. When we can no longer celebrate a moment of personal triumph no matter the size of the fish, then I submit we are far too serious or far to self absorbed, and have forgotten what it is to enjoy muskie angling; every single Muskie's worth. Easy answer.
