Location: Illinois | July 2004 Issue of the Wisconsin Badger Sportsman Scott Kieper wrote an article on wading in rivers for muskies. Does anyone have this? I'd love to read it. Please PM me or e-mail me at [email protected] if you can help me find this. Thanks, Mike

| I've done a thread search for "wading muskies" and came across a few posts. My interest in the Kieper article is to shorten the learning curve as I am set to do some skinny water wading this Fall. If you'd like to pitch in ideas, thoughts, or tips concerning wading for muskies, by all means, please do! Mike | |||

Posts: 145 | One of the beauties of skinny water is that you know where the structure is and where the fish should be holding. Keep an eye open for log jams and especially for feeder streams going into the main water. I have had alot of luck with suicks in this type of water they work well in the current and they just plain catch fish. One thing of interest is when you are in waist deep water and have a set of jaws come after your bait when you are doing an 8. Spinners do pretty well at the right times but anything that looks like a minnow (thick body ect) is going to be your best bet. I have purchased a sachel from the army navy store that I can stuff release tools and the lure wallets that I make along with a boga and anything else I need that way when I am in the water I don't have to go to shore every time I want to switch baits or if I catch a fish. I will try to post some pics if you would like but I can fit everything that I need into the satchel (boga grip, lures, leaders, release tools, & 1st aid kit) and I can keep in the water the whole time. PM me if you have any other questions. Take care, Jacob

Posts: 2894 Location: Yahara River Chain | Hey Mike, I have done a little digging and found two articles by Kieper in The Badger Sportsman. 1) July 2004 "The River Wild" 2) July 2007 "More Muskies? Bigger Trigger" Let me know if you would like either of them.

Location: Illinois | Jacob, Post me a pic of your release tools and satchel. I'll head out to the Army Surplus store and pick one up too. I need to pick up some Boga grips as well, how much $$$ so they run usually? Thanks for the link to the river article. Gerard, I'd appreciate looking at both Kieper articles please. If you have a scanner, perhaps you can copy them and convert them into a PDF or Word Document? Or if you'd rather me send you a stamped & self addressed envelope, maybe you can copy them for me and send them to me via snail mail. Thanks fellas. Mike
