Who uses them and what you think. Not just talking about throwing Dawgs.Throwing everything from small baits, jerkbaits, and double 10's.They carry a wide selection. All i know is that the tip is stiffer than most rods. What else can you tell me????????

I like my 8'6" XH but it is a little bit stiff for most baits. I bought it without seeing it first and maybe should have gone with a H but it tosses the bigger stuff nice. I picked it up new for $93 shipped so the quality of the rod was well worth what I paid. It just makes me go out and buy bigger lures now like that pounder Curly Sue I just bought today from Lambeau. Can't wait to bomb that pig soon and I know the rod can handle it!!!

Guess I can't say anything bad about it and I would buy another, just a little lighter action one thou.

I have one of the 2-10 oz. 8'6" rods and I really like it for casting double tens. It also works well for working jerkbaits and launches mag dawgs a mille. All in all I am very satisfied with the rod and am thinking of getting another one for 11" curlys. I casted 11" curlys this weekend with it and it handled it pretty good but think that the next step up rod would do a better job.

I own the 9' Super Mag (heaviest blank they make), and it is now coupled with a Trinidad 14 for throwing big blades. It's a pretty stiff rod, meaning it works awesome for long casts, flawless figure 8s and solid hook sets. The stiff tip will likely enhance, rather than hinder your performance... at least that's the case for me.

Also... I've watched a buddy step on his MI rod and flex it from the gunwale down to the deck on a Ranger VS. So I would have to say they are a pretty durable rod. They're a little heavier than a Loomis or a St. Croix Tournament Series, but also cost a lot less. Hope this helps.

Catch 'em,
Andy

I run the 8' Monster and other than its a heavy rod it casts anything from DCG's to the big curlie sues with ease.

I also have an 8' Monster mag rod and I love it. I prefer the stiffer tip I feel I cant get the baits to do more things cuz when I pull or jerk the rod the bait has to move. Also a 40" plus musky will easily put a bent in the rod.

Why the 8', and not the 8'6"?
Just a personal matter?
How about throwing jerkbaits/crankbaits/spinnerbaits and lighter bulldawgs (I´m talking about weights around 3-8oz) with the M.I. Monster Heavy XXH 8'6" 10-40oz?
Is it too stiff?

The XXH 4-40 oz throws light dawgs just fine to as well as Hellhounds ect. I just prefer working those type baits on a lighter rod such as my Loomis or Thorne Bros.

I have a 9', 1-7 oz that i use for throwing just about everything. I do not throw large plastics with it, but I love it for everything else.

I have two 8'6" and love them. They seem to be a little stiffer than most rods and deliver a strong, solid hookset. I use the extra heavy for big bucktails, big crankbaits, and "lighter" plastics and will be using the monster heavy for magnum superd's and up I did crack off the butt end of the cork, but I put electrical tape on the butt end of all my rods anyways. The 8' would be great for walk the dawg topwaters and gliders... its on the list!

I have the 8' H mag swimbait rod. Personally, i think the rod is garbage compared to an St Croix Avid. My 7'6" Avid works a Mag Dawg better than the MI rod that was supposedly designed specificially to do it.
With that said, i am comparing apples to oranges. MI doesnt make a High Quality rod. Maybe one day they will, but right now they are heavy and sloppy in my opinion. One positive, they have a very long butt section that i do like.

Why o Why did St Croix stop making the Avid!!! I like my avids better than my legends.

Just my opinion, Rob

Handle is to short for my liking, but its a good rod. Personally I'd take the Gander Tournament rod, made by Trophy Technologies and $70.00 cheaper. Not as many guides, but a nice stick.

I have numerous ones from musky innovations. They are really heavy rods and take alot to cast. The Gander series made by the same company is ten times better and they are considerably lighter. Stick with the best and go for St. Criox

I have the 8 ft. Pounder Rod, great rod for big blades, dawgs, etc... It's a little on the stiff side for dbl. 10's so I picked up a Gander MH 8ft. rod and love it for double 10's, but for double 13's, I like the extra beef of the pounder rod.
