Posts: 32880 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | I have this model, just got it few weeks back and love it. Loaded up with everything you need and alot more. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.as... It's a Dell Inspiron, loaded. And, it's a good deal from Tiger Direct, far as I can tell.

Posts: 32880 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | I have an IMac too, and it's a wonderful computer. In fact, I'm on the IMAC now using Virtual Machine...Windows on my Mac. What you described wanting to do the Inspiron will do nicely at a great price. 160 gig hard drive, decent dual core processor, Multi-card reader, firewire port, wireless, 2 GIG Ram, built in webcam and more. It's a nice machine. Next time we meet, if you get a machine like this one, I can load her up with some good software for you.

Posts: 4053 Location: Land of the Musky | I do just what you are asking on my new (used) one. I did not want much so I got a D600 laptop on eBay. $225 delivered. It had some extra RAM in it to boot. It is our kitchen computer and works like a charm for general stuff. Loaded the full version of Office on it and its good to go.

Posts: 1316 Location: Madison, WI | What kind of price range are you looking at? Anything you get Dell is going to be vista, it's a 2GB ram minimum. (unless it's a reburb then you might find a XP model) Don't forget to take a look at HP's I've been running HP's for past 10 years, a very solid laptop. There running a stackable coupon for $200 off a $999 price laptop ATM. Not a bad deal, but i've seen better. When are you looking to purchase?
