HI all, just a couple of quick updates on the RTHMC. First off, there are still plenty of openings left. If someone is looking for a tournament to try where there will be little fishing pressue this is the one. As of right now we only have 17 boats on Pelican and only about 25 on Boom. There is more fishing pressure on a weekend in the summer on Pelican than this. That said, Crescent, Oneida Hancock; Julia, George, Thompson; and the Moens chain are almost all full. Some people have been wondering about the status of the 618 Ranger that will be given away to the team that catches the first 50 inch musky of the event. We have made all the necessary arrangements and there will indeed be a 618 there. With the problems at Heckels Eagle River Marina, this was a legitamate question, but rest assured we will have a boat to give away thanks to the fine people at Ranger boats. I spoke with TJ today and Muskiefirst is going to be there with all the media coverage, live updates and a few other things. Hope to see everyone there! Posts: 1916 Location: Greenfield, WI | This is a great opportunity for those who mistakenly signed up to fish Crescent to transfer to Pelican! After all that has happened to Crescent Lake this summer, with the UFO crash and radio active leaks, chemical spill, sink holes at each landing, just to mention a few of the highlights, how could anyone hope to catch a muskie there? Can radioactive water have turn-over? 'Da Hodag is a great time, with alot of great muskie sticks! It is a class tourney! Get your applications in.........except for Crescent Lake!.........

Posts: 27 | This is my first time fishing the Hodag. Wondering how many boats they allow per lake group? I have the Crescent, Oneida, and Hancock grouping and from the talk it sounds like there are a million boats on there.

Posts: 27 | Thanks for the reply. Does anybody know how many boats are pre-determined for each lake group? Where there are 3 lakes do they regulate how many are on each lake, or can all fish one of the lakes?

Posts: 2323 Location: Stevens Point, WI | If your signed up for a certain lake group, for example, Crescent, Oneida, Hancock, you can fish any of those lakes during anytime of the tournament. That's part of signing up for that group. I would imagine the pre-determined number of boats per lake group have more than likely been the same for years.

Hi JWood, we based the number of boats on the total acres of water for each lake family. No real science to it, just a number to go by. Crescent, Oneida and Hancock will be limited to 35 boats. Same as years past. Yes you can go from one lake to the other as long as you check out and in at each lakes registration station. Thanks. John

There are no fish in Boom either. The lake exploded, hence the name, it's gone.

HI again, I have one more slight change to report. For many years in our tournament you were not allowed to pinch the tails of the fish. The DNR rules state that you can pinch the tails. It came to my attention that many people were unhappy about this rule. Well this year feel free to pinch the tail on any musky that you catch during this years event! Not a big change but one worth noting nonetheless. Thanks. John

Oneida Esox (John Stellflue-Hodag Tournament Director) posted there are openings for all lake groups, but three of the five choices are almost full. That was as of this past Monday.
