My wife has been an artist for her entire life. She ask me the other day if I could look into purchasing a airbrush + kit + compressor. She wants to start painting lures. Any direction would be helpful.

Paasche is a decent starter kit, if you want the best for your dollar, an Iwata is the way I'd go.
