Decided it was long overdue to take two guys I work with on a little K2 Pineview, Utah Tiger Musky (TM) fish'n trip.

These guys have invited us ice fish'n and also to come along with them on a fish'n trip to Lake Powell...so it was "our" turn to take them fish'n for hopefullly a "quality" TM fish'n experience.

Both these guys have lived in Utah all if not most of their lives. They’ve never fished for TM and they’ve only seen our photos and heard the stories. So we set the date for 29 August Friday…

We didn't know how this TM fish'n would fair as this time of year the bite can be elusive to non-existent on Pineview...but a "quality" trophy TM catch can happen but you just never know.

Got on Pineview a little after Sunrise...

Fish measured at 46.50 with a 19.50 girth…the picture doesn't do the size of the fish justice…Just had to be there to see the ear-to-ear grin on CPs face and all of ours....for the first time he’s TM fished not to bad we'd say.

So congrats CP you deserve this one and MB we'll get you hooked into one...not to worry. Two great guys and we're just glad we could get at least one of them into a first ever Trophy TM catch on his first time out...NICE

You really have to dislike that drab scenery and those ugly fish. Some nice things coming from there, congrats on the fish!

Looks like a great day. Nothing like the feel of Tiger slime in your belly hair with the mountains behind you.

I know a guy that fishes out there. What's his name again? Kurt? Clive? Kyle? No wait, it's Clint. Clint Sieverson. I fished with him once on at a M1st outing. Hell of a good guy. Smiles all the time if I remember correctly.

Nice fish guys. It sure looks like you like to troll faster than most of there from that first picture, but if that what it takes to hookup...

Nice pics and Story, and a beautiful big tiger. My initial guess was 43"es, but no offense. Tigers are usually so fat it throws me off a little on guessing the length... and that fish is no exception. Big congrats.

p.s. It would just kill me to musky fish with such a little bait!!!

No offense taken at all we measured it out on the bumpboard and it was 46.50. The picture doesn't do the length justice. And being it was the first time CP ever caught a fish of this size...well we didn't want him to worry about how he held the fish for the picture.

Oh and for lure size...well out here in Utah and you can trust me on this...traditional "large" Musky lures don't necessarily work. We've used them and have yet to catch "anything"...largest lures we use are J-13s, spoons nothing over 5/8oz, and spinners nothing over a #5 Mepps.
