Location: Cave Run Lake KY. | spend the $$$ get Good Year Marathons. Just put 2500 miles on my boat trailer with 5 yr old Goodyear Radial's. didn't whant to buy new tires, I take one to two trips a year from Ky. to Mn. and run nothing but Goodyear. Never go to Canada with out at least two good spares. I also now take the long way around Chicago. |

Location: Kodiak, AK | Four Goodyear Marathons on my trailer. Stay away from bias plys on a trailer. Some guys still run them for overly large mud tires. One of their biggest weaknesses is that if they're parked for a while they can get flat spots; and trailers tend to be parked more often than not.
Is there a reason why you're thinking about bias plys? |

I'm presently in process of purchasing trailer tires. Like many others, I always ran Goodyear for over 30 years. However, I'm seeing a lot of complaints about Goodyear trailer tires since they started being made in China. There are a lot of posts about problems at thehulltruth boating website.
I've asked my Goodyear guys (they service 2 service vans and my pickup and yes they muskie fish) about trailer tires. They have no idea where Marathons are made any more. They believe they used to be made in Iowa for Goodyear.
They suggested other brands.

| Had Goodyear Marathons treat me well with my first boat/trailer. Using Maxxis tires for the last three years on my current trailer. No problems.

Location: W. PA. | I've been hearing the same thing as greybeard over on the RV boards. Everyone always swore by the marathons but now they've been making them in China and people are having lots of problems with them. I've heard some good about the Maxxis that topwalker mentioned and also Duro but there is always bad to go along with the good. There doesn't seem to be any clearcut favorite as there was when the goodyears were being made here in the U.S. Luckily I have a newer set on my trailer so I can wait a few years before deciding on what to get. Hopefully by then there are some good, proven trailer tires. |
