first, let me tell you about myself, i've fished for muskies for 4 years... but i only get 1-2 weeks to fish for them a year. i have no boat, thats mostly why i dont get the opportunity to do so.

anyways, i fished eagle lake the last 2 years and only caught one 42" muskie

i decided to change things up and go to lake of the woods... mostly for a different lake and different fish...

spent a week at canadian haven in nestor falls, great resort, the best i've stayed at thus far. caught 2 muskies during the week(35 and 31).
during the last few years fishing for muskies i've become addicted to it, i love it.
i really fell in love with sabaskong bay too, there were spots that looked good... a boulder on a point with the waves crashing into it.... i'd tell my girl friend, "i bet i get at least a follow off that rock"... and 2 casts later i'd pull a fish off it... wouldn't catch it, but i'd get a follow.

since i joined this site i've been trying to get to know some of the guys on here better, so i might have some more opportunities to fish. (i would have went on the vermillion trip but i had already made plans on going to LOTW that week). anyways, heres a few pictures from my week on LOTW.

sorry for rambling...

the first fish was caught on a rad dog and second one was on a ghost tail

I'd love to see your pics.  I think they have to be downsized to show up.  Check the FAQs for details.

Ah, Sabaskong Bay. Nothing like it. Hope to retire there some day... long way off though

Good job on the fish. Are you going to return next year?

Ramble on, dude. Good to see you with fish in hand. My first trip to Sab Bay didn't yield fish much bigger, and I had the same big grin from them I see in your shots. Keep at them, they only get bigger and a bit easier to catch. m

Hiya,

I too will look to retire on the bay.... My first year, I found fish, but could not bury the hooks into any of them. Now, as time has gone on, and I continue to expand the areas I fish, I am finding more and bigger fish as well. Sabaskong bay is doing well for both numbers and size, and when you tie into a pattern, things can go extremely well.

Next time you go, feel free to drop me a line...I'll share some thoughts on the types of locations to consider and some spots to try as well... I'm up there one week out of the year and my spots are hit multiple times in the week so they are no secret. It's fun to swap info with others too...Sean can attest to that and thanks to him, I have a few other spots to try and have succeeded in finding fish there.

Welcome aboard!!

Steve

Give me a shout when you come up next year. I live on LOTW in sight of Canadian Haven. Brian and Kathy know me. I'd be glad to help you locate fish. Maybe even take you out for a day if I don't have anyone here with me. I have fished LOTW for 56 years and live here 4 months each summer. Started when I was 9 years old and still concentrate on muskies. You can find me on page 38 of the user listings. Send me a PM before you come up. I fish with quite a few folks from the boards each year.

Kreegz,

Take Bob up on his offer! He's been a great help the last couple years keeping me up-to-date on LOTW before our trip.
