Posts: 32934 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | How was the Muskie fishing for you last weekend? I was in Escanaba covering an FLW Walleye Tour event, got home late Saturday night and worked around the house a bit until Sunday evening. Keith and I went out at 6:30; moved 5 with one airborne attempt, all on Weagles. How'd you do?

Saw several fish both days, 2 were notable... broke my slump with a 37.5 (haven't got one that small or even seen one that small out there in a while)(see post) when I actually stayed out after dark. Was impressed to finally see some decent girl action out on my lake too..had one on her dock yesterday I was talkin to, telling her about the big musky that lives near by and how I'd be coming back after sunset...ate dinner, took a nap..cruised back around dark and there she was...not the fish but the cutey....I should have brought bug spray, the mosquitoes were terrible and that would have been a good in. But all went well...still trying to figure out why my new weagle always wants to go sub surface and not go side to side... :s The other neat thing this summer is the amount of baitfish I'm seeing out there...it's incredible I haven't EVER seen this in my 20 some years I can remember going out there.

Posts: 1296 Location: WI | Friday I got a 37". I did 2 figure 8's and not seeing anything started to take the lure out of the water when it hit. Pretty cool. Also had 2 strikes from the same small fish later on. Saturday I got one around 30" and lost a nicer one that hit on the 8, also had another strike but didn't hook up. Sunday I trolled big water for 3 hours and got skunked. Rabid Squirrel bucktails with the doulbe blades (I think they're 8's) are the hot bait for me this year. Posts: 444 Location: Duluth, MN | Fishing is good. Spinnerbaits in weeds has been the ticket for us. Dick Pearson's Grinder is a great bait. Here's my son with a 38"er he got this weekend. He got his first on opener now this is his 4th and he's outfishing me. Looking a bit to cocky now!! Attachments ---------------- ![]()

Does Monday count? Just came back from a six hour outing at Lake Arthur, Butler County, PA. Water condition: muddy except in two of the arms I fished. Number of fish boated: 0. Number of strikes: 0. Number of follows seen: 0. Gains: painful experience. Loss: Giant Killer in firetiger/firetiger. Lost to an embedded tree stump. Didn't want to beach the boat and swim out in underwear to retrieve it. (Next time I'll take spare underwear.) Eat your hearts out you Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Ontario anglers.

Posts: 159 Location: NYC (and many weeks in MN during summer) | Andy - 7/28/2008 5:41 PM To add onto my report I was out this afternoon (seeing if she was on her dock again) sure enough..booya! That went well....almost put my weagle through a boats windshield that was parked at a dock...once again my 80lb power pro has snapped mid cast. Was it a result of a backlash or a reel problem? I fish with invisibraid now, ultrbraid before that. Haven't had a line snap like that since I fished with...Hmmmm let me think.... 80# power pro. (I lost a jake) Oh, and no fishing for me. Two more weeks and I'll be in Minnesota, just in time for the full moon. I've been on the phone with rollies and Thornes emptying out my bank account ordering all the last minute stuff I can't live without. Randyg Edited by NYmuskyhunter 7/28/2008 6:03 PM

Posts: 20255 Location: oswego, il | Hit the local cooling lake saturday befofre the Illinois Musky Alliance meeting. Caught one smallie and lost another. Only fished 3 hours. Went sunday and we caught 10 smallies, 4 cats, 3 drum, 3 stripers and a low thirties musky on bass baits.

Posts: 177 Location: Cohasset, MN | Apparently the muskies signed a pact on Sunday that read:"ignore the baits but feel free to porpoise next to the boat". Enough said.

Posts: 2687 Location: Hayward, WI | I was up in the Hayward area Saturday late afternoon-Monday. No fished showed or hit Saturday evening. On Sunday, I had a 36-37" by the boat, which should have been netted at least two times, but the person running the net seemed to be on a different page than I was...LOL. Lost one that felt to be 40+, and had a hit that was on just long enough to know it was a fish. All of those fish were from 4:50 PM (roughly moonset) to 6:00 PM. I finally caught one Monday. Moonset was at 5:55 PM. I wanted to stick it out until 7:00 before packing up to head home. It was 6:55 when I released this 43.5. ALL fish came from slightly deeper water - but near some sort of structure, and ALL were on an 11" Curly Sue. Edited by curleytail 7/30/2008 4:39 AM Attachments ---------------- ![]()

Posts: 880 Location: New Berlin,Wisconsin,53151 | Silver fished on the Big Pond on Saturday morning. Picked-up 3 Kings. Waiting for the water to cool off alittle down here to start casting for muskies again, but while I'm waiting the bite is on and they taste good too. Bruce

I had that on a 3 day weekend a month ago, must of seen 30-35 fish do that and over half where in casting distance... and as usual none would bite.
