Subject: Hotspots Map or Navigation map?

Been pondering this question for a while.

Let's say you are headed to new water. Which map would you be more apt to buy and why: The fishing hotspots map (if available) or just a hydro map for fishing? I understand the need for navigational maps for canadian waters,which work as you hydro map. Do the tips on the hotspots really help you out or are they just marked "community spots?"
