Subject: Vermillion "Head Of the Lakes Bay"

Folks,

I will going on a vacation to Lake Vermillion and staying at a resort on the Head of the Lakes Bay in August 16-23. Just curious to what the muskie fishing is like in this area of the lake. I have never been to Vermillion before but I do have plenty of Shield experience throwing the baits at some Eagle and LOTW fish. Just curious if anyone has an opinion on this area of the lake versus other areas of the lake. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated as well.

Thanks,

Raider

Be ready for ridiculous pressure. I was up for a few days last week and I will not be back. I do not want to be negative, but I am just warning you. It was my first time to Vermilion in five years and it has really changed. Community spots I bet fish see 30 boats a day easy. People will say find you own spots. That is difficult when every time you come around a point or island there is another boat. I guess I was just looking for an upnorth atmosphere, not Minnetonka on a Saturday....... If was going to fish it, I would open water troll off of the reefs with cranks that go around 10-15 feet down. Good Luck

I agree Joey, I will not be back either. It's a shame because that lake has probably the biggest fish I have ever seen but I don't drive 11 hours to feel like I am fishing the Fox Chain of Lakes...

You know, when we were there it was not that bad at all. Esp. during the week, sometimes we'd hardly see a boat. And, in the few coves we'd visit where there were other boats, we could either join them or move to the next spot; so many good looking spots on that lake!

I have no idea what you'll find there in August, but as I said, try weeds. And rocks. then weeds & rocks. Keep rockin! m
