| hook up with some of Mal's guides over at Evergreen in Littleneck Bay...those guys rock. Since I won't be going up there or a while due to a lil bit of drinkin and drivin, the best advice I can give you other than the first thing I said is: in order of distance from temple bay.... Past perkins island while heading out to the big part with deadmans reef...there is an awesome weed bed between the next island and shore past perkins..always raised a big one there, was the first spot we hit when heading out to the south east end... back side of west long island, whole thing (kennedy bay side) fornier bay hit the bay on the southeast side of FLOAT ISLAND... HARD across from "3 brothers" then, round float island towards muskeg, but hit the NEXT ISLAND's southern point which will have 2 markers between Float Island and itself. That is "world record point"... then before heading into muskeg, hit the weed flat between rendevous point and the opening of muskeg. NEXT, Eagle Bay, with all the reeds and the indian reservation, hit that whole edge moving East over to either reserve or spring bay (they are right next to each other I forgot which one comes first) Between These 2 areas I am trying to help ya out with, you will find a #*#*load of rocks and islands which is marked "colemans reef" on the map I believe. Due West of colemans, there is an island between colemans and "burndt" island... with boulders out in front of it, big ones..(where aren't there I know I know...) You can spend a whole day in this tiny area, between the boulders and shore..then moving to the outside edge towards the open end of the lake looking out towards the "walleye rocks". Hope that's enough to get you started, it's been 4 years now since I've been up there but fished it for 5 or 6 summer trips in a row and know my way around it quite well. No idea what the water levels are. We stay at Evergreen which is not far from Temple, good friend of the family runs it and they have THE BEST food! Take a guide trip down to Osbourne and Niven for the day too, this time of year is excellent down there. Each spot I mentioned, we (dad brother and I) raised some really big pigs and got some real nice fish from. Those places I mentioned still haunt me to this day, I will make it back up there sooner or later. Hope this helps. | |||

Posts: 1188 Location: Iowa | Spent a whole week there last here and had one strike...be prepared for it to take you to town...could be really good though...we showed up 2 years ago for a 4 day trip and caught 3 fish in the first 2 days and lost several others in the days to follow...biggest was a 43" that trip...last year dad stuck a 50", the one fish caught all week...just be prepared...don;t get me wrong, I would choose that lake 8 out of 10 times for one trip a year... | That's amazing Big Oxycodone...we had a few off days out there where we NEVER saw a musky so I know what you mean. I'd do anything to get back up there regardless though ya know?

Posts: 86 Location: University of Hartford | In my opinion If it looks good fish it, cause the known spots are pounded and for good reason, but I cant tell you the number of times my dad or I have raised a pig out of a marginal looking clump of weeds...... Make sure that you fig 8 on every cast cause they eat then. Alex

Posts: 548 Location: MN | Thanks Andy, I'm taking the Temple Bay bus. Don't know if I could talk the driver into stopping. lol Thanks for the offer. Out of 40 of us I believe there are only a few muskie folks. The rest don't know what their missing. Nick

Posts: 24 | Andy, thanks for the info too! Awful cool of you to point out a few spots on a huge lake. I'm heading up to Eagle (North Shore Lodge) around Labor Day. Do you have any preferred techniques or lures for fishing these spots? I've been on Eagle in June (NSL again, musky opener '05) & August (Evergreen Lodge '99). What a difference a few months makes. The weed growth by mid-August was incredible. We slayed the pike (and 1 muskie) on buzz baits & spinner baits IN the bulrushes.

| Yeah I haven't been able to make it up there in a few years, but it's my favorite place to be aside from my cabin not too far from here at home. Evergreen is an excellent place, my dad talked to Mal a couple weeks ago to give us an update on Pat and all I know is she isn't doing well. Her cooking was 60% the reason to go up there I'm tellin ya... Those fish are nuts up there, less predictable than the ones I'm used to fishing here in Northern Wisconsin...never trolled for them and I know that's the new big thing but I do not swing that way...Just bring all your baits and get ready for some sore arms is all I can say. Let me know how you guys do. | |||
