| looking for your leader choice, split ring vs. no split ring, and rod choice for this bait.
I am using straight wire with split ring and 7'6 mh gander rod and HS abu. Can't get the puppy to dance yet.
thanks |

Location: Yahara River Chain | Shorter rods will allow the "dance" to be made easier. Also a single strand leader with no swivel and a split ring to the nose will be best possible set up to aid in the desired "dance". You may want to experiment with length of leader for optimum "dance". |

| I think Gerard has it right, although different guys have different preferences. I like a shorter rod, 6'10" heavy with a 10" single strand wire to a split ring.
Some reef hawgs don't dance like others, no matter what your set-up is. I've got a few 6" reef hawgs that are completely dialed in and can do the dance and are absolutely deadly. I've gone through others that I can only describe as "duds"....in my experience, maybe 1 in 3 reef hawgs work the way I like them to... |
