Location: st clair shores, MI | Sat morning at about 5 30 am a few buddys and myself were headed to the Canadian side on St Clair for a day of trolling. About 15 minutes into the run across the lake the inline fuel filter blew and we found ourselves drifting. I woke my dad up to run us out some tools and parts to do a quick fix and while we were waiting I must have saw 10 musky surface chaseing bait fish so i grabed one of my trolling set ups put on a bucktail and whipped it out there of course the biggest bird nest you can imagine.As the crew laughed i untagled it and gave it another try it was sucessful i casted it about 20 ft from the boat and cranked it back. What i didnt notice until after i pulled the bait out of the water was that i had a follow.It was about a 40 inch fish and he sat there long enough for me to toss the bait out again as soon as it hit the water he turned and went for it and followed it back to the boat agian but i spooked him off when i tried to do a figure 8. I made few more short casts after that but no other takers.Shortly after our parts arrived and we went on our way.We ended the day 5 for 8 trolling but by the end of this week i will own some cast gear |

What does 5 for 8 mean? Does it mean 5 fish for eight anglers/trollers? Or does it mean 5 fish for eight hours trolling? Or something else? |

Location: Northwest Chicago Burbs | I'm pretty sure 5 for 8 means 5 fish caught for 8 rips/strikes/hits. |

Location: Stevens Point, WI | Sometimes a bad day can turn good. Two years ago I went out on Shawano Lake by myself in September and it was a perfect overcast day with a decent chop. I just put in and was motoring half way across the lake and a good mile or so from getting back to the Swan Acres landing when my motor just quit. It ended up being the VRO and fortunately I have a 24V 65# Minnkota on my Tuffy so instead of just heading straight back to the landing with my head hung low I fished all the way back and boated two mid 30's fish and several pike. |
