| Hi guys. I need some help on a good place to put a tent up for a weekend. I am pretty short on cash and don't have the money to rent a cabin and really don't want to stay at a motel/hotel either. I just need a place where I can sleep for a few hours here and there, as the rest of my time will be spent on the lake. Preferably, a place on the western side of the lake, but if you have other suggestions those are welcome too. Thanks in advance. |

Location: north central wisconsin | There isn't a whole lot of camping on the west side of Mille Lacs proper. However, I beleive there is a small lake just west of Garrison with some camping opportunities and if I am not mistaken it is not far from Mille Lacs.
With that said, we have been staying at the state park on the south west end(Kathio). It is a 5 minute drive to Eddys, a 10 minute drive to the public landing by the casino, 30 minutes(or so) to red door, etc. The place is secluded, nice, and well run.
There are private camping opportunities on the east and north ends, and another state campground on the south east end by Isle(Father Hennepin), which is nice also.
Good luck!

Location: Bloomington, MN | I stay at Flagship Inn (a.k.a. Military Service Association), which is about as close to camping as I want to get. Inexpensive iceshack cabins with 2 beds, close to the relatively clean restrooms/showers (I'm very Felix Ungerer), they serve breakfast, lunch, beer, dinner, and beer, and a free boat ramp if you stay there. Lunges are less than 100 yards away! Mindless drifting close to camp! Fun for the whole family. |

| father henein state park is on the south side and has camping on the water. Ther is also a campground just south of town about 5 minutes that has clean restrroms and showers but it is literally in the middle of a big field with no trees. |
