I didn't know what to put in the subject line that could start this post off....I'm kind of lost for the right words. After 6+ years of throwing his arm off, my oldest son Mark (Ifishskis Jr) caught his 1st musky ever on the evening of July 3rd!

A 37.5" musky was h-bent on eating his Double 10 Gerry's Girl on the figure 8 and eat it he did. Mark did a great job fighting the fish and M1's own K-bob slipped the net under the beast.

The fish has been caught a few times before. The fish already had the damaged gill you see on the picture, and the RS gill plate was deformed a bit...likely during a battle during it's younger years. The fish was released and swam away in good condition.

Mark, you don't know how proud I am of you! You hung in there when most others would have quit!

And thanks to K-bob for allowing us to join him and make this all possible!

Hi Gerry!

Was gong to email you the news and a pic but I've been out of town on biz and don't have your email addy on my laptop. I know of another regular here that caught a mid 40's (new PB) fish this week on the same lake with a GG ....but I won't steal his thunder!

The Girl's are catching the fish in northern Wisconsin!!!!!!

Thanks Gerry!!!

Jim

p.s. I think Mark is retiring the lure....so I'll have to buy myself another one!! LOL!!

Hey Mark- Congrat's on your 1st. Now the muskie fever really sets in! I know K-Bob probably had just as big of a smile when he netted that fish. .

As a note- it's interesting/amazing to see just how tough muskies really are, i.e., the torn gill section showing from some previous encounter. This goes to show the value of releasing of what many would consider as a severly injured fish.

Have fun!

Great fish Mark, congrats! p.s watch that thumb location, that could get ugly real fast, try to place it in the slot between the middle of the lower jay and the outside of the jaw line.

Congrats Mark. Glad I could be your netman.
I a;sp caught my new personal best on a Gerry's girl this week. It hit on the 2nd 8 and came out of nowhere. Actually, he came from below and under the boat, so I never saw him until right before she ate. Fish was 45" and swam away strong. I won't have a chance to add my pics for a week.
