How much would it be to convert a standard steering mechanism to hydraulic (Sea Star) steering? Just a few ball park figures would be nice. Getting tired of "fighting" the steering on our '02 1850 Fishhawk.

Also, I really don't have a lot of maneuverability with our tiller that is connected to the big motor. Doesn't make sharp turns well at all. Would I get better, more responsive steering if we went back to the traditional handle style steering? Is this possible to do? I guess that would mean dismantling the second set of throttle and ignition controls and reverting back to pull start and handle throttle control. BTW, we have a 9.9 Merc Bigfoot.

I'm figuring anywhere from $800-1000 to go to hydraulic steering. I also think that you get more turning qwith the hydraulic than the cable steering. Convert back to the tiller w/extension, and add a TrollMaster for the best in control on your kicker.
