Posts: 2384 Location: On the X that marks the mucky spot | Hey Guys, We just wanted to let everyone know that this year is going to be bigger and better then ANY year we've ever had this tournament. Our new tournament director is really busting his butt (as is the committee) to bring more value then ever before. Right now we have a special incentive for those who preregister. We're having a drawing for FREE GAS for all those that register before June 30th. 1st place $200 Holiday Station gas card, 2nd $100, 3rd $75. We know that we're competing with gas prices this year so we're doing what we can to give people the chance to beat the price at the pump. Remember, this is a fund raising tournament that allows our chapter to stock fish, help the DNR, support youth projects and make the fisheries in MN better. I hope to see you all there! Posts: 2384 Location: On the X that marks the mucky spot | 1. It's including meals Friday and Sat night 2. The costs for EVERYTHING have been skyrocketing 3. We didn't make any money last year. We made roughly $3 per volunteer hour. This is a fundraiser for the TC Chapter of MI to do work on YFR. 4. We have even more prizes, incentives, and payouts this year then any other in the history of the tournament. We wish we would keep the price the same, but it's a losing venture at $75. It was either increase the price, down grade the event, or shut it down. We feel that the extra value we're giving this year MORE then justifies the increase. Where else can you win a $30,000 prize for just catching 1 fish? Which tournament feeds you 3x for $95? Which other muskie tournament is giving away approximately $75,000 worth of cash and prizes in one even? We've also included dozens of other perks this year over prior years that I don't have time to list. This is going to be one of the greatest muskie tournaments ever thrown. We're not trying to be defensive, but in the last couple years the event was priced at a level that didn't make it worth our while. We tried 2x as hard this year to give increased value because of the increase. We even included a family pack at a substantial savings. It's a risk, but it's something we needed to do if we're going to keep the event rolling. In the end, buy 1 less lure and you'll more then make-up for the increase. Hope to see you there! Posts: 233 Location: Iowa | Sorry, I wasn't trying to get under your skin or anybody who's involved in the tournament. I've fished 6 of the last 7 tournaments and I fish the tournament more for fun. I really don't care if I win anything - it's just an added bonus. I just don't want to see the entry fee too out of hand. $20 there and $20 there and pretty soon were at mid one hundreds to fish in a tournament geared toward having fun and raising money for muskies. From all the stuff that has been added this year - sure looks like it's gonna be fun. Great idea on the gas card raffle prize. See you in September. Jeremy Edited by jwelch 6/22/2008 1:38 PM | ||
