Posts: 1916 Location: Greenfield, WI | I just heard a report on TV that after yet another monsoon yesterday and a strong flow of the overflowed lake running down the streets to the east, no watercraft of any kind will be allowed on Pewaukee until further notice! I can understand no wake, but I have never heard of no watercraft!

Lk Redstone near Reedsburg is closed to boats as well. i don't know about Pewaukee, but Redstone has numbers of flooded/sunken boats plus lots of debris in the lake making it dangerous to navigate. to avoid more damage to the shoreline and not get in the way of efforts to get the sunken boats out of the lake they closed it.

Posts: 2691 Location: Pewaukee, Wisconsin | Yes my friends it's true. Today they are closing all the nonDNR launches also. You can't even find a place to launch your boat. Chained and locked launches is a sorry sight. Please respect the people who live on the water and pray this water will drop safely. The dams around here are all stressed but holding. Down town is a mess. Carp are taking over the town streets. If I never touch a sand bag again it will be too soon. Hands, back and legs are tired of it. Down town looks like a war zone with all the sand bags everywhere. Knee deep water is now covering main street. Carp swim down the sidewalks and hundreds of them all over the streets like its a river. The beach down town has not been seen for over a week. The water is up to the buisnesses across the street from the beach, sand bags are keeping it from entering the buildings. It's a sad day today when you have to cancel guide jobs because of no where to take them. This weekend and all next week is looking like no water time for me or my clients. I hope next weekend will be the start of just "NO WAKE". Closing the lake had to be done, way too many stupid people on the water now not following the rules. A few can ruin it for a lot. Posts: 2268 Location: SE, WI. | Few boats still launched this mourning on Pewaukee. Talked to the local police and said just a trolling motor was fine at 10 AM. .....BUT the sherriffs department just closed the county launch as of 11 am this mourn. Any boat using the lake now will be ticketed $ 175.00 until further notice. REALLY SAD!! Moved 5 this mourn...1 hit.

Posts: 1916 Location: Greenfield, WI | Although the winds have reduced a little bit, over night they were pretty brutal out of the west/south west. I hate to imagine the potential damage to the buildings, beach (now lake bottom), and roadway along the east end of the lake. The weather forcast for the balance of the week is for no rain. Lets hope that they are right. This already has been the wettest month ever in SE Wisconsin recorded history, and with only half the month gone! Our prayers go out to all who have been affected.

Posts: 2691 Location: Pewaukee, Wisconsin | The lake is closed to boat traffic but the fishing goes on. CARP shooting with the bows is getting my spare time. Carp are everywhere and easy to get too with this high water. Just doing my part getting the crap out of the lake. My kids are getting into it like I did when I was a kid. Lots of fun fishing with arrows and spears for carp. The water has got to new heights as of Saturday. This is now way more than just high water. Pewaukee Lake and other area lakes will see long lasting effects from this flooding. In a few weeks the real work will again get going. Removing all the sand bags and damaged stuff like piers, lifts, boats, boat-houses, trees, shorelines, beaches, houses, stores, streets, etc. Very sad time for all of us around here. No to mention we can't be on the lake fishing. Some are trying to get out with just their electrics to work a loop hole in the ordiance. Well, that is just causing numerous calls and people getting pissed about boats on the lake. I talked with the chief of police and he said the calls were non stop from lake residents. No rain, no wind and some time and we will be back on the water sticking muskies. The second "Opening Day" will soon be here. Fo now the carp will be my anger managment. WHACK!!!!

Posts: 2268 Location: SE, WI. | Mike; Funny, the lake residents are ripping around in their pontoons and I saw several lake owners pulling sail boats yesterday. The 2 pontoons I saw were doing at least 15- 19 MPH. Interesting that they complain about the fisherman, but they can use the lake? They just do not like the fisherman and the fact that we are willing to use our electric motors to get to use the lake. And yes, the fact that they let boats use the lake...there is always a few that will push the limits!!!

Posts: 144 | so can we use the launch or can't we? The way I understood it was that we can't launch our boats. Is it legal to just use our trolling motors?

Posts: 1916 Location: Greenfield, WI | Friday I talked to some guys who are sailing fanatics. They said no water craft means no water craft! Where are the wardens? All the police that patrol the lake have more than their share of work to do without trying to find a landing accessible and useable when boats are violating.

Location: Des Moines IA | The Fox Chain in IL is closed now too. Here's the latest: "The entire Chain O' Lakes is closed due to dangerous boating conditions and floating debris, the Fox Waterway Agency announced today. Also, officials said, a 10-acre bog has blocked the mouth of the channel between Grass Lake and Lake Marie. The bog dislodged from an island in the system due to high water."

Was the water high enough that there may have been a lot of escapement? I wonder how many muskies are getting blown out of these once well stocked lakes?

Posts: 2691 Location: Pewaukee, Wisconsin | I would guess lots of muskies are being lost. There is three times the water going through town than there is going down the dam. I couldn't even bring up a reasonable number as to what has been lost out of our lake here. My brother and a few friends killed 125 carp Sunday in town. That a lot of carp after the village removed about that many two days earler. I was shooting carp with my daughter Sunday in the river behind town and I only saw one muskie swim by. Lots of carp, some did make it by us but most payed the price. I am working on updating my website now. Pictures and details by tomorrow(Tuesday 17th). Was told it would take 40 days of no rain for the lake to get back to normal. I would hope my July we can get back to "slow no wake". Its bad around here, some have no idea. I will post all details on my site directly from the police as far as the new rules. I will post some pics from this weekend. Some of them were from Friday night before higher water. Can't get into town farther, we took these pictures from our C21 office. The picture of our cottage was from the pier which is floating but tied up to shore. Down town as of Sunday was completly off limits. Two incidents of people getting swept off their feet and had to be saved before getting back into the river down the street. Thats how fast the water is rushing through down town. Posts: 59 Location: Pewaukee, Wisconsin | Mike, I lost one in the river today...saw some kids trying to net muskies they told me they already killed one of them. They got another while I was there and attempted to call it over 34 so they could keep it but I told them it wasn't and proved it by measuring it. Those kids didn't have a clue what they were doing the muskie was flopping all over the ground, I can't imagine how many people have killed muskies in that river already....its unfortunate, makes me angry Also went shorefishing on Okauchee, water is still really high saw people trying to launch but the barricade put an end to that. Saw a upper 40's in the Oconomoc River too. Sorry to hear about the lake closing, that doesnt help you out at all

Posts: 929 Location: Rhinelander. | What a nightmare this is to handle. Lake winnebago with the new virus is overflowed and who knows where it could spread to. All that water flows into other creeks and streams and certainly has to spread evasive criteers and viruses to other areas. Anyone know how the rivers in Illinois are doing where those flying carp are located> Will this help them spread into the great lakes? Yeah...What a mess..................Pfeiff
