Posts: 443 Location: Duluth, MN | My sons first muskie!! 2 long years...swarmed by bugs at night on mille lacs, 40 degrees in Oct, 90 degrees in July....many follows...one finally hit!! It followed to the boat on the first pass on a blue and silver Super Cowgirl and then he switched to an all gold SCG and it hit as soon as the lure hit the water on the exact same spot. The first one is always the toughest but he paid his dues. Attachments ---------------- ski2.JPG (188KB - 92 downloads)

Posts: 271 Location: davis,IL | Very Cool!! Tat's what its all about!! Good Job!! Now I guessing he wants the big one, if you get the chance DAD, give it to him. Remember, some years down the line, if it all goes good now, he'll pay you back. From the look on my DAD'S face when he outfishes me in MY BOAT, like they say...... PRICELESS!!!! DAD turned me on to some decent fish years ago (they are on my wall), now it's my turn!! I got the chance to take my father on his dream fishing vacation to Canada, in a month it will be 7 years now of that same dream DAD always had of the ultimate fishing adventure. But now, I, the son, get to guide, and it's kicks a$$. Here'sa a pic of DAD and his PB 45", we both missed 50" fish on this trip, but he didn't care. He caught this one, thanked me for the net job, said he was cool, and we could go home now, he got his, he missed the bigger fish the next afternoon. It was all good, his smile by the way is the cat that ate the canary in this pic. This post is great, it's about fathers taking sons ( and perhaps daughters) fishing. DAD took me once upon a time, now I get to repay the favor ( THANKS DAD )!!! Edited by muskydope 6/8/2008 2:37 AM Attachments ---------------- Picture 257.jpg (39KB - 80 downloads)

Posts: 101 | Very Cool! Sounds like your son worked VERY hard, and by the look on his face it shows it all. When I look at the photo of my son's first I see that look of confidence, and happiness, and it's one of my favorite memories as a parent. Your son also has that same look on his face.. Enjoy the memories!.. and congradulations on the nice fish. ~Dawg

Posts: 443 Location: Duluth, MN | Yea Merckid it's a big relief to get the first one out of the way...i started to lose him about the end of July last year so we started hitting the shallow weedy bays and fishing bass and northerns on buzzbaits and had a blast...easy fishing and a ton of fun even if you don't catch anything over a few pounds. Having any size fish hit topwater keeps it exciting.

Posts: 714 Location: Rhinelander, WI | Great job, awesome to see. I can't wait to fish this weekend with my 10 year old son and my dad, at the annual Boom lake fathers day tourney. My son is still looking for his first musky, but just like yours the pike and bass keep him in the boat. I am hoping he ties into a big one on a surface bait this weekend, would be great for all of us. Nail A Pig! Mike
