Last year I used a 7000 for Girls that was alright but I don't think it cast anything smaller very well. Picked up a new rod this year that throws everything well, for me at least, that I'm going to use. Looking at either a Luna or Red Isis.

I'll tell you what, after the service I just got from Okuma, I would go for the ISIS!

I think the Induron is pretty tough to beat too.

I just bought a couple Luna 300 and tried em out casting a DCG with a 7'6" st.croix and it worked a little hard but definitley better than the 6500c3 I had before, although this was in shallow water when I was trying it out. On the other hand I love em and they are smooth

Since I don't have too many setups I need a reel that works well for just about everything, and since I don't throw double 10s all year I don't have a need for a Trinidad or something enormous. My Lunas (300) throw everything from 6" swimbaits to Mag Dawgs.

If you are going to be doing any ripping or twitching I would go with a 400TE. If you are pretty much a straight retrieve guy then you can get away with a Luna. But if you do any ripping of baits, you will blow out the anti reverse pretty quick.

How about that Abu Garcia EXT? The add in rollie & helens says exactly what ksauers said he was looking for! Never tried one, anybody use these?

Okuma Induron. I have several, been flawless and are about $120 a pop. The 250 does about everything I need, and the 400 is a workhorse.

OKUMA!!!! The price can't be beat, service rocks!! Talk to California Muskie (Mark) he"ll fix you up. I got my first one recently(400a), and I'm very impressed and am going to get more! The reel looks and feels comparable in quality of manufacture and durability to Shimano (Calcutta) and Diawa (luna) for about half the price, get it now it won't always be this cheap!

Muskie24/7,

I have used the Abu Garcia EXT 6600, and I really like it for the double tens. I added the power handle, and it was a nice reel. Having said that, I don't think it will hold up to constant use with the double tens. Mine started making a loud clicking sound during the cast, and I sent it back to Abu. I decided it wasn't worth keeping, and actually sold it for profit on Ebay. My parents both have one, and the same thing happened to one of theirs. Turns out it was the magnetic braking system making the noise. The reel of theirs that doesn't make the noise is bulletproof. If it wasn't for the noise, I'd still be throwing it. I really thought it was the smoothest, quietest reel I'd ever used. If it was just for the smaller stuff, I'd say go for it.
