Posts: 2515 Location: Waukesha & Land O Lakes, WI | I talked to a guide from the Cisco Chain who said he got a 36.5° water temp....walleyes not even in the spawn yet. This weekend and next should be very good up there for Walleyes. The Boundry opener the week of the 15th should be slow.

Posts: 1906 Location: Oconto Falls, WI | I agree the Border/MI opener is going to be a slow one with the water temps. The walleyes on Twin were also not spawning yet last weekend. In fact the females were out in deep water staging to move up. The males were shallower, but still not really shallow.

Posts: 1294 Location: Stevens Point, Wi. | John, not sure what lake your guide report was from, but I was on Big and West Bay on Sat. afternoon. Water temps were 42-44 degrees. Caught several dripping males in extemely shallow water (<2')

Posts: 158 Location: Burlington, WI | Wow, the water is still pretty cold up there. The opener might be kind of tough. I'm finally getting to head up to my favorite lake early in the season (weekend after the opener) where the water warms relatively quickly. So I was looking forward to finally be able to fish shallow, but who knows how they are going to be moving with these water temps so low. Can't wait to find out though.

Posts: 1906 Location: Oconto Falls, WI | Water Temps. on the large, deep and clear lakes in MI were running as cold as 48°, and as warm as 53°. I am sure that 53° temp fell as that was on Fri. before the clouds, wind and COLD rain hit. The smaller and darker lakes were from 53°-58° depending on the time of day and lake you were on. On ALL the lakes the fish were in various stages of the spawn. I don't t think any of the lakes had the fish done spawning, and in some cases I don't think they were hardly even started yet.
