Location: SW MI | Okay, you all can laugh but I need to know what the difference is. Is it based on the diving lip? Body shape? I'm thinking of trying my hand at making some lures but I'd like to know the difference first. Thanks. |

Location: Oregon | Crank baits have a bill on them of some type that causes them to dive when retrieved. The bill causes the lure to wobble/wiggle as the lure is "cranked" back although many lures that are trolled also fall into this category. Glide baits on the other hand do not have a bill on them and rely instead on the angler to impart the action with the rod and reel. Glide baits generally slowly sink while maintaining a horizontal posture and are weighted in a way that causes them to first "glide" one direction and then the other as the lure is retrieved.

Location: SW MI | Can you explain how they are weighted? I was looking at your gliders and I think this is the way I want to go. |

Location: Oregon | I would suggest you visit the lure building forum on this site to answer your question concerning weighting. There are also lots of good baits out there for you to consider.
