I used mine for about a week, then hung up a lure. In the process of getting out the lure retriever and getting my lure back I noticed the line was not being guided left to right.Opened it up and the small white line guide gear had about 4 to 5 teeth missing. so it works to that spot and then just stays there.....Sending it back tomorrow......Aside from that looks to be a good reel H&M

Used the reel last year for DCs, etc and it performed well. However, due to the desire for a lower gear ratio which will perform better for DCs, I will be using the reel for big Bulldawgs, etc. Am going with a Penn 975 for the DCs. The iHSN is also heavier and it's better to have a little less weight when you're trying to throw the DCs for hours at a time.

used it last year to burn the double tens and now it seems like I burned a gear on it or something on it.I put on the super model I bought to try it out and when I tried to burn it the reel handle wouldn`t turn for me,it would work slow but not fast.I would not reccomend this reel, but maybe it will work for you.

I used the 7000 IHSN last year and had no trouble with it. If you want the lower gear ratio you can get it converted to a set of 4.1:1 gears. Sportsman's Repair does this conversion. You can also purchase new 7000 IHSN reels with the conversion already done at R&H.

Casting 55, I'm by no means a reel repair expert but if the reel handle turned when you worked it slow but wouldn't at higher speed that doesn't sound like a gear problem. I think you need to look for another problem but that's just my opinion. You may want to check the drag setting. The extra drag of pulling in a Super Model at high speed might be causing some kind of slip. I guess that doesn't explain the handle not turning though. Sounds like you've got me stumped.

the iHSN at 5.3 to 1 is not a good choice for double 10s...it will scream double 8's and other bucktails but for double 10's it will wear you out...go with the conversion i HSN at 4.1 to 1 or get a penn 975 or something in a lower gear ratio..your forearms will thank you.
and don't buy an old gold one...they are JUNK>
