| Sorry, but I have to respond to a post I found here dated in the 2006's. I'm
Ralph Kebl, past owner of Musky Masters Guide Service out of Manitowish Waters,
Wisconsin. A guy from Racine posted that I contacted him, and he made the "Big
Black Cat" bucktails for me---WRONG! I bought all components for the tails at
Rollie & Helen's shop in Minocqua, Wi and assembled them myself.
I played around with these for years, adding weights, sections of hair tails, beaded
keel weights and etc. and finally produced the big tails that produced Muskys on
average over 45 inches. I don't think the tails were the key--DEEP water was. After
the Muskys (anyway on the Manitowish Chain) spawned, they headed to deep water.
I seldom if ever, fished shallower than 40 feet in June and it lead to some wins and
alot of high places in the Vilas County Musky Marathon.
I now live in Thompson Falls, Montana and have some of the best Trout fishing in
the world, along with a nice resident herd of Elk on my property. Should the
guy who "made the bucktails for Ralph" wants to contact me, my E-mail address
is: [email protected].~~~~Thanks and keep the slack out of your line.

Location: Racine, Wi | Ralph, that was me that posted that. Maybe you were tying a different tail as well, but I was referring to the Ralphie Boy Specials that I used to tie for you. I don't think those ran as deep as the ones you're taking about, but they were (and still are) a big hunk of hair. Still catching some nice fish on them too.
I shot you an email. |
