Posts: 32958 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | It's fog rising from the ice from the temperature difference. Pretty cool looking.

Posts: 271 Location: davis,IL | Seen that before and many other "effects" caused when the ice went out. I've been living on a lake for 18yrs now, and ole' mother nature can be pretty impressive. It's always interesting to go out in the boat just after the ice goes out and inspect the damage the ice can do to a shoreline (man made ones are the most noticeable).

Posts: 66 Location: Tomahawk, WI | There was a little bit of fog on the SE side of the lake yesterday where the last of the ice is. It was pretty cool looking.

Location: Lake Tomahawk, WI | Was working on Tom all week, Friday was quite exceptional as far as scenery. Smelled like summer, warm and damp. We were working in the bay by town, on the north side, with the ice pulled about 40 feet from shore. Was lucky enough to see a small muskie off of the dock. Was hoping to crappie fish today from the boat, but we're back to winter-like weather with ice cold winds whipping flurries. Hopefully the walleye opener will be kinder. JS

Posts: 331 Location: Stevens Point, Wisconsin | I hear that the 3 lakes chain is opening up fast today. Big is all the way open and the wind is smashing the ice apart on the other lakes. This is from a buddy who lives in 3 lakes as of this morning. Ed

Posts: 2323 Location: Stevens Point, WI | Pelican was wide open today. Lots of ice still on the east shore but definitely wide open, along with other Rhinelander area lakes I went by today.
