I got my first of the year starting the weekend a little early(Thursday). I got a 34" musky on a 6" suzy sucker on a central WI river. The fish inhaled the bait. The last inch of the tail was inside his belly already.

i'm headed to the Brewers game in a couple minutes, so my fishing for the weekend is done. hopefully Bush will pitch as well today as Weeks did yesterday!

the fish have been pretty cooperative this week, nothing big but it's always nice to get something on the end of the line!
small gliders were producing best for me and a couple of fishing partners.
other reports i've heard have some fish starting to show a bit more interest in bucktails, and i finally started getting some follows on faster moving stuff.
rain in the forecast all week, so water temps will probably stay cool for a bit longer...have been in the 59-62 range on my local lakes.

Lots of follows 1 hooked and lost, typical so far for the season here.

Nice job guys! Eastern Ontario opener isn't until this coming Saturday, then it's game on!

Muskydeceiver,
Look a little more closely at the top right of the pic and you'll see another rod, much thinner. Then look at the reflection in the water... looks like fly line to me. Isn't it possible he could have another rod with him???

Fished fri/sat. Zip on friday, and yesterday got a pike trolling, and had something bigger rip a shallow invader. No muskies for me yet this year.

it's all good guys, I do bring another rod along in case the wind blows up on me and I can't use the flyrod. It's actually a Fig Rig, and it doesn't get very much use these days... I'd rather have it with me than have to row all the way back to the launch in the wind to get it... Very observant fellas!!

Had 8 fish between 38-48 come in on bucktails (DC8 Llungens and Cowgirls), 1 fish come in on a boat sucker (the biggest fish we saw) and saw 3 more cruising this Saturday and no takers. Frustrating to say the least. They seemed hot but just wouldn't go for anything. I may have to revamp my boatside maneuvers. Did manage 3 pike, but that counts as a deduction

Got out for 4 hours today on Lake Monona. Picked up a 39" fish on XX and saw a few fish but most were pretty slow follows.

Esox50- Thanks for the compliments. It's a Water Skeeter boat, and I love it. I really don't have the place to put a boat living in the city, and the cost to store it far exceeds what I can afford, let alone the gas and towing part. My parents have been looking into getting a camp for the last 7 years and have been reluctant to get anything...therefore I got the boat as a birthday gift. I've used it from the Pamlico Sound in North Carolina to Presque Isle Bay in Erie, Pa. I had a week where I landed 167 trout in it, and another day I caught pretty close to a hundred largemouth in the spring. Now I've stepped it up a bit and have taken on musky fishing, and have actually done really well. The boat is close to four years old now and not one problem has come up. At least a few friends have boats so when I get the chance it's a well deserved break from rowing!!

Trolled for 2 hours on the bay then switched to casting out there.Reminder to tighten the drag once done trolling. We lost a fat 45-46 at the boat . I noticed the drag after the fish threw the bait close to the boat. It was a definite reminder to self or to have a different rod in the boat fro casting. Did lean a new spot out there and will be back out there. Goodluck fishing.

Saturaday I raised two fish, a low 30 incher and a mid 40 incher on a Jackpot. Today I got my first of the year, a 33 incher on a Manta and had the same mid 40 incher follow again but once again came in slow and far behind the lure.
