Have you put the cap back on top of the nut that holds tha handle on? If you have, put a bit of thread lock or superglue on the thread of the little retaining bolt to stop the cap falling off..

I did that already! Didnt help at all. Any other ideas! I took it back apart last night and found that the little clip you put on the bolt is bent a lil. Could that be the problem?

I had the same problem on one of my abu's. What I found (after a few stripped nut caps later) is that the power handle was a little thicker than the original handle. The nut cap wasn't getting enough threads to get a good solid grip. I made a small recess in the power handle slightly larger than the nut using a drill press and a stone dremel grinder/bit. I was able to get a few more threads in the nut and have not had a problem since.

When you put he handle on the shaft is the hole in the handle the same size ????? or is there play ??? if there is play in the handle when it is on the shaft, you have the wrong handle.

I would have to say the nut is stripped. I deal with Garcia reels on a daily basis and I also noticed there is a slight amount of play with the crank rotating slightly instead of being held firmly like the double paddle handle. A new nut can be found at almost any tackle shop. Gator Grips company sells replacement nuts that fit most brand reels in the size of any Garcia under a 7000. The "E" clip cannot be the problem. That prevents the gears from only meshing so far by keeping the main gear aligned with the pinion gear. Also you may try some threadlocker if it comes down to it. ONLY A SLIGHT AMOUNT of threadlocker is needed so don't over do it.

make sure the spring washer between the star drag and the handle didn't get lost when you removed the original handle. It happens, and makes a difference.

I wouldn't suggest putting power handle on a small 5600.

Why wouldn't you want a power handle on a 5600? Mechanically the 5600 is the same as a 6500, it's not like they are built lighter duty because they have a smaller width. I like power handles so much I use them on some of my low profile reels even.
