To those that have had these suits for multiple years, what do you do to maintain them? I just bought a pair and would like to keep them at their best, thx much.

Greg, mine was borrowed for the Clear Lake trip so I can't tell you how to maintain it. I will let you know not to put your sunglasses in the pocket that right by the main zipper. Had mine in there for about an hour or so and it rubbed the coating off the lens and scratched the crap out of them. Don't know how or why but it did.

Greg, I have had mine at least 7 years and have done very little to keep them in good condition. Keep them clean and free of mildew. Hang them up to dry after use. Never put them away wet as mold and mildew will result. I have washed mine in warm water and then hung them to dry. Mineseem to be in almost new condition yet. Best raingear I have ever had.

Let em go...Let em grow.....Mike

i hear putting them in the dryer will "re- activate" the gortex/water proofing.

I have also heard about special soaps to use when you wash them, gets the material to make the water "bead-up" again. After a while the "coating" wears off and although the suit looks wet it is still very waterproof, just doesn't bead-up anymore. Has anyone used these soaps or seen a difference in the way the suit beads up water over time? thx much.

p.s. Mike, how often do you wash yours? Can you wash it too much? thx again.

I have the Guidewear and it's great. I was told that frequent washings keep the pores clean and actually makes them more waterproof. That's what I do and I have had them for sevral years. They are well worth the money, I wear mine all year, judy layer your clothing.

Good luck, Murph

Greg, I wash mine a couple times a year. I have not used any kind of special soap. They seem to be holding up real well. Expensive, but one of the best things that I haveever purchased. Was an article a while back in one of the fishing mags that did a poll of "professional anglers" on the best rain gear available. Among the full time pros that were not sponsored the Guide Wear was the overwhelming choice by far. Mike
