Anybody using these for muskies? Looking at getting a custom rod and this was recommended. Will probably get it built to 8'6". I know it's rated for 3-8 oz. but heard it should handle lighter baits well because of it's soft tip. Will it throw lighter bucktails and showgirl type baits well? Keith at Professional Edge says he's built about 50 so I know they're out there.

hi brian, keith @ proedge made me twin 8'10" st. croix legends out of the "mega swimbait" blanks and they are amazing to say the least in my opinion. keith put the syncork handles on them which i have found offer me better grip because of it's thickness and better grip than cork when it's wet. i had the gold ringed zirconium guides put on them with blue wrap with gold trim and the rods are very sharp looking as well as functional. i have thrown everything from 1 1/2 oz bucks up to 8 oz baits and the rods handle them all great. i couldn't say that about my other st. croix premeirs which were definately more weight-specific rods. the legends are also incredibly light-weight compared to most musky rods out there today. i prefer the little softer top end that these rods have compared to some stiffer "musky" blanks that are available. keith does great work and once you pick up one of these rods it will be extremely difficult to put it down! if you have any additional specific questions you can PM me.
