Location: Central WI | I kind of just did this on my boat, so I'll tell you what I found out.....
If you're running a 24V system you hook both batteries up in series ( connect the pos of one battery to the negative of the other battery and the remaining two terminals go to your trollling motor.) I was told you will still need a seperate bank for each battery. In this setup, the switch would not be neccesary.
If your running a 12V system with two batteries, you could keep the switch and select which battery to use and still run a seperate charging bank to each or I believe you could wire them in parallel by hooking up the pos together and the neg together and then to your trolling motor. (I would ask more questions about this way as I'm no electrician either!) In this case I would imagine you would still need a seperate bank for each, but like I said, if your running a 12V system, I would wait till someone confirms that this is correct.
