Would 80# Berkley XDS Fireline be a good choice of line for a beginning muskie set up?

MOST CERTAINLY!!!!! I have a few 300 yd spools of this line and while it is stiff, it does not backlash as bad as some of the "limp" braids. It is great line and can be found very cheap on the website for the fisherman factory outlet website. Go to google and type in ffo. You will find it cheaper than most any place there.
