Location: Nordeast Minneapolis | So... the weather here in Minneapolis today sucks. Which means I decided to spend part of the day daydreaming, sorting through my tacklebox and starting to go over lures. See what might need new hooks, start sharpening some, and basically do anything BUT some of the million things on my running to-do list... at least, the stuff that doesn't involve fishing.
And while going through my collection, I got to wondering what oddball lures others may throw. See the attached photo for what I would consider to be the oddity in my regular rotation, but I'd love to see what you guys might have... more specifically, have and use!
I have no idea where this lure came from (so if anyone knows anything about it, I'd be glad to hear!) but it was in my dad's tacklebox many years back, and has since 'migrated' to mine. It has a really kind of nice 'muskrat' action; runs as a surface bait with the nose up, and a little twitch of the rod gives it a nice diving action. Or at least I think so. I've never caught a musky with it, although I did have a 47" follow (my cousin, who I was fishing with at the time, actually managed to catch it about 5 casts later) but have landed a couple northern. And it has the bonus action of retaining enough water to give whoever is fishing with you a good shower during every cast... depending on who you're with, this can be a real attribute.
I'm not asking for anyone to divulge super-secret killer lures (unless they want to!) but more if anyone else has anything tilting towards strange that they actually use...
