Great idea for a thread Danny... It's been great working on this project thus far, as I have met some truly incredible folks. I would personally like to thank all of the authors from last night:

Barron (Bob Benson)
Brown (Jay Zahn)
Dane (Gerard Hellenbrand)
Door (Mike Healy)
Eau Claire (Jon Olstadt)
Forest (Danny Lazzeroni)
Kenosha (Doug Kloet)
Kewaunee (Tom Betka)
Manitowoc (Rob Howe)
Marathon (Mike Seager)
Marinette (Dave Wineburn)
Milwaukee (Kevin Moore)
Oconto (Dale Vercauteren)
Outagamie (Roger Watters)
Sawyer (Pete Maina)
Shawano (Jeremy Van Ert)
Sheboygan (Greg Wells)
Vilas (Steve Heiting)
Washington (Don Jahncke)
Waukesha (Dennis Radloff)
Winnebago (Jo Junion)

As far as I have been advised, every one of the authors did a great job. Though the results have not been made available, I am VERY proud of the effort that all these guys put in. After the GLC defeat last year, it would have been very easy to pack it in and say "why bother," but these guys stepped up big time. And to get 21 authors lined up in only 7-8 days effort, was frankly much more than I expected.

And thanks to all that showed up to vote at the CC hearings last night.

TB

Congratulations to Dan Lazzeroni for being elected to the CC from Forest Co. We now have 2 muskie fishermen from Forest Co. on the Congress. Hopefully some more muskie anglers stepped forward to represent our sport and all sportsmen in general.

Dannyboy,

Was there a resolution on some of the county ballots to counter the early season change? I would be more than happy to help out with that issue if needed.

Thanks

Hey Lazzo,
I hope you can get things done, it can be a very draining experience. See you in a couple months my friend, that is if the ice ever melts.

Tom, I would have nominated you last night but wasn't sure what the 2 year or 3 year was about. I guess it's just the term? Turns out you must have been in Kewaunee anyway so you wouldn't have been able to accept. Thanks for all your hard work.

Bob,

Thank you for the sentiment...

Because of my commitments to MI as the new VP-Research, and the likelihood of being involved in defending the 54" resolution at the GLC meeting this fall, I decided not to run for the Conservation Congress in Brown County. There was also the possibility of a time conflict between serving on a CC committee at the same time as our resolution was being discussed. Additionally, a friend and colleague advised me that he wanted to serve on the CC due to his lifelong efforts with numerous trout issues throughout the state. As there was a greater likelihood of him getting onto the trout committee than me getting onto the GLC (along with the reasons mentioned previously), I decided not to run this year. However, unfortunately he lost in his bid to get elected...

But I very much appreciate your offer to nominate me for a seat. I may look at running next year, but for the time being there is so much work to be done with local & regional musky issues that I may never get my head above water again!

Floydss,

That's a very good question you've asked.

I guess, depending upon where you live, you can start to do your best to educate anglers on musky-related issues. Probably the biggest issue we must address is that of how best to minimize our impact on the fishery; specifically on delayed mortality. Learn everything you can about delayed mortality; it's causes and ways that we as anglers can take steps to minimize it. If you aren't an MI member, please strongly consider joining your local chapter. Things are changing for the better in the musky world--though it's a slow process. But it's like a merry-go-round...you can stand and watch it go by all day, but the fun doesn't start until you jump on.

Of course this isn't the end of the 54" size limit for Green Bay. If indeed it won support last night, it will need to go to the full CC statewide ballot next year--and we will need a lot of support from this point forward. So if you have the inclination, you can read all of the literature supporting the effort; as most of it is posted on this site. Let me know if you need any information, as I have several good sources of info on these issues.

Thanks for the post.

ACE the ice is melting here finally.
wont be long and the lakes will open up.

I think the vote speaks for itself on the supposed C&R season.
i was very pleased to see the vote here in forest county go our way.
question 12 voted no 18-3 and question 13 was 23-0 NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i really believe it helps to have an educated passionate angler speak. it sure seams to be working here in a very difficult musky county.

look foreward to seeing a yes on the 54"gb resolution.
keep your fingers crossed.
