I have an older orginal Calcutta 400 and would like to put a handle on it such as the ones that are on the 400B and the TE's. But I was told that those handles do not fit on the 400. Is there any aftermarket handles or Powerhandles that I could use?

i've got "b" handles on all of my original 400's ... they work. not sure about a powerhandle option but whoever is informing you the b's don't fit the 400's is not correct.

i was the "guest" above ... here's a picture showing you. note the grey thumb bar and line-guide of the original 400 and the black paddles (b paddles) ... simple replacement.

I have a 400TE and bought a power handle direct from Shimano.
Call to order the handle from Shimano parts 1-877-577-0600. Ask if they have a saltwater power handle to fit the 400b. Not sure if the one I got that fits my 400TE will fit a 400b. PIKEMASTER might know. He seems to bee the fishing reel master here

I have the power handle (grey rubber handle) on my 400B very nice improvement but, it would occasionally engage when casting, a new (heavier) handle on a used reel, a quick fix was to replace the retractor spring(1223) and the clutch pawl spring(1307). Reel works great now no problems.
